Lights On Owasso Starts at 5 p.m. With a Shopping Train Down Main Street

Lights On Owasso returns to Redbud Festival Park on Saturday, November 28, 2026, the Saturday after Thanksgiving and Small Business Saturday. The holiday train starts running up and down Main Street at 5 p.m. Event listings describe it as the way to "do some Christmas shopping on Small Business Saturday," and the schedule is set up so families can shop along the street before they gather for the lights.

That puts the Main Street storefronts at the start of the evening, and this year several of them are new. One short stretch of South Main gained three new businesses side by side over the past few months.

The Schedule Puts Shopping First

The City of Owasso's 2026 photo-op signup form gives the official details: free admission, November 28, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Redbud Festival Park, 109 N. Main St. Some regional calendars list a 6 p.m. start. The City's own form and the Value News November calendar both say 5 p.m., and that's also when the train starts rolling.

That first hour matters. According to the Green Country Marketing Association listing, the lighting ceremony is the centerpiece, with thousands of lights across the Redbud District and the tall tree. Around it are things that happen near the park:

  • Photos with Santa and his elves
  • A real reindeer to meet
  • Carolers
  • Food trucks
  • Face painting and balloon art

The train is the one piece of the evening that's designed to move people away from the park and along Main Street. If you arrive at 5 p.m. instead of 6, you get an hour of the train and the shops before the crowd settles in for the lights.

Three Doors in a Row on South Main

The train has more places to stop this year. Three new businesses sit next to each other on the 100 block of South Main, a short walk from the park. Here they are, with details from the Choose Owasso business features:

Address Business Owners What it carries
123 S. Main St. Ballet Cat Brandi Allen Consignment dance, cheer and gymnastics gear
125 S. Main St. TBR Books Jay and Sara McElroy New bookstore covering fantasy to mystery
129 S. Main St. Suburban Revival Boutique Amanda Johnson Women's apparel, jewelry, small gifts

TBR Books is the newest of the three. It held its grand opening on Friday, September 25, so this will be its first holiday season. "TBR" stands for "To Be Read." The McElroys stock fantasy, sci-fi, young adult, historical fiction, romance, and mystery, thriller and horror titles. Choose Owasso describes their goal as bringing a new literary concept to their hometown for readers of all ages. In the same article, Sara McElroy said, "There's a little bit of a space for everyone to kind of hang out and be comfy."

Ballet Cat is next door at 123 S. Main. It sells consignment shoes, leggings, skirts, leotards, tutus and other gear for young dancers, cheerleaders and gymnasts. Brandi Allen explained the idea to Choose Owasso: "Those three sports tend to be very expensive. I just wanted to help lower the barrier of entry for parents." The shop also takes donations of used or unwanted items so other families can reuse them. If you're cleaning out closets before the holidays, Ballet Cat accepts outgrown recital gear.

Suburban Revival Boutique is a few doors down at 129 S. Main, inside the corner storefront of Urban Okie Boutique. Amanda Johnson opened there this spring. She carries dresses, rompers, jeans, tops, jewelry and small gift items. Her posted hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If those hours still hold on November 28, the store will close about an hour after the train starts, so stop there early.

Mix On Main and Top Shelf Hobbies Fill Out the Route

The new businesses don't stop at that block. Mix On Main at 4 S. Main St. is right by the intersection that anchors the district. Grant Stacy and his wife, Kaylyn Powell, took over the former Gameday Spirit Shop space in May. They turned it into a shop for vintage clothing, art, decor and artisan goods. Choose Owasso quoted Stacy describing it as "a little bit of everything for everybody." The couple also plans to host events for artists, hobbyists and collectors and posts updates on the store's Facebook page.

Top Shelf Hobbies is an established storefront under a new name. According to the Redbud District's August 13 business spotlight, the shop formerly known as Top Shelf Models came under new ownership and was renamed. If you remember the old sign, the store is still there.

Taken together, these shops make a gift route: a bookstore, a boutique, a vintage and artisan shop, a hobby store, and a consignment shop for young performers. All of them are within walking distance of the tree, and all opened or changed hands in 2026.

The Photo-Op Displays Advertise Local Businesses

The tie to local businesses carries into the park too. The City's 2026 photo-op form invites businesses and organizations to build photo-op displays for the evening, and it says plainly that "a photo-op site is a great way to advertise, since business and organizations are encouraged to incorporate their logo into their design." There's no fee to take part.

So when you're lining up for a family photo in front of a decorated display, there's a good chance a local business built it. The City's form calls Lights On "one of Owasso's biggest Christmas traditions," and it sets up the event so local businesses can be part of the decorations. If you own a business or lead a group in Owasso and want a display, the signup form is on the City's site.

Where to Eat Before the Lights

Food trucks will be at the park, but the Redbud District already has sit-down spots and coffee shops close by. The district's food and beverage directory lists 918 DOCO, Chloe Lee's Coffee & Bake House, Dreaming Donuts, Fire 'N The Hole, Fulfilled Coffee, Giant Subs & Deli, Luigi's Italian Restaurant, MAD Eats and SMOKE Woodfire Grill. The directory dates from 2025, so check each place's hours for Thanksgiving weekend before you plan around it.

Giant Subs & Deli has the longest history of the group. A 2025 Redbud District feature marked its tenth year in the district and called it a local staple.

For a relaxed evening, one plan works well: get coffee or an early dinner around 4:30 p.m., catch the train at 5, shop South Main, and reach the park before the lighting.

The Season on Either Side

Lights On falls between two other Owasso events on the late fall calendar. The first is a veterans ceremony, and the last takes place in a different part of town:

  1. Veterans Appreciation Ceremony & Concert, Wednesday, November 11, 7 to 9:30 p.m., at the Owasso Community Center, 301 S. Cedar St., according to the Value News November calendar.
  2. Lights On Owasso, Saturday, November 28, 5 to 8 p.m., Redbud Festival Park.
  3. Owasso Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 12, 9 a.m., at Smith Farm MarketPlace, 9017 N. 121st E. Ave., with free admission, per the Green Country listing.

With the parade set at Smith Farm MarketPlace, Lights On is the holiday evening on this list that takes place on downtown Main Street. If you'd like a last stop on the other side of town, OK Roots Farm To Market at 12336 E. 86th St. N. moved this year into a larger 1,500-square-foot space in Cornerstone Shopping Center. Kimberly and Roger Brown run it.

This year, the train runs past a bookstore that has never had a Small Business Saturday, a consignment shop that takes outgrown leotards, and a vintage store in what used to be the Gameday Spirit Shop. If you plan to ride it, get to Main Street by 5 p.m.
